Crazy Canuck Truckin is the passion project of Crazy Canuck Dave aka David K. Henry.
From a very young age Crazy Canuck Dave loved anything that made noise and drove fast. He grew up in Southern Ontario, a middle child of 6 kids in the 70’s and 80’s.
Live fast and drive faster was his motto.
Life has funny quirks and after a sports fueled high school experience he continued on, getting married at a young age and starting a family.
At the age of 23 it all came to a crashing halt. Literally.
A farming accident should have cost him his life, or at best left him a vegetable. With 2 kids, 1 on the way and a strong faith, this wasn't an option. Some dark years and more injuries followed during which Dave earned the nickname “The Crazy Canuck” given to him while he lived on the east coast in the USA.
In 2016 after the 4th major head injury he was on the brink of suicide. A therapist named Sylvia (check her out in Ep 10) came up to him and put her finger on his chest “David, you have to remember who you are.” His goal was to always be a help where he could and this reminder pulled him out of the depths. He made a decision to help others by talking about his struggles and survival with depression and post-concussion syndrome. He became very active on Instagram as @survivetodrive and on Twitter as @crazycanuckdave and became a keynote speaker. You can also find him on YouTube Tedx at the University of Winnipeg. 2020 was full of negative media so Dave turned off his radio and severely limited his news intake. Podcasts became his jam and he thought that since he couldn’t travel anymore for speaking events he would create his own podcast to reach others.
Crazy Canuck Truckin was born.
Today, Crazy Canuck Truckin is modelled after sitting around a campfire, coffee, or any therapy session with friends/family. We talk about touchy subjects, laugh at silly circumstances and support each other in troubling times.
